Rules of the 2014 Low Carb Weight Loss Challenge

Competitors are expected to provide 2 official weights:

  • Initial Weight
  • Final Weight

Photo based proof of the two Official Weigh-In’s must be provided as follows:

  • 1 photo of the competitor standing barefoot on a scale, in gym suitable attire. No shoes and headwear are allowed.
  • 1 close-up photo of the weight readout of the scale with the competitor standing on it. The photo must include the word of the day, which will be published on the web site each day or which can be mailed to you if you email and ask for it.

Weekly Weights:

In addition competitors are expected to weigh in once a week, between midnight on Thursday evening and midnight on Sunday evening. The weight entry form is on the website, under your login and entry will take less than a few minutes to complete.

Submitting Photos

The two sets of official photos need to be submitted digitally by uploading them to the website, onto your profile page.

If it is not possible to upload your photos, they may be emailed to for uploading.

Photo Privacy
Your photos will never be shared or published in any way, (unless your permission is asked for and given). Your photos will only be viewed by the judges of the competition for judging purposes.

The same scale should be used for official weigh-ins. If this is not possible please email for a rule relaxation. Where possible, scales should be digital or doctor’s scales and placed on a hard, flat surface.

Dress Code
Weigh-ins are to be conducted wearing “gym suitable attire”. This means any clothing that would be acceptable in your local gym. Typical clothing would normally include a T-shirt and short pants or tracksuit pants.

Unsafe Behaviour
Competitors must have a BMI of over 18.5 to start the competition.

If a competitor’s BMI falls below 18.5 during the competition, the competitor will be disqualified for medical reasons.

Disallowed Actions
The following actions are prohibited for all competitors during the course of the competition.

  • Taking or engaging in any medical weight loss procedures
  • Tampering with scales used to measure weight
  • Induced vomiting
  • Dehydration procedures


Decarb Diet reserves the right to cancel the competition if there are less than 25 entries.
