MTC’s (Medium-chain triglycerides) are medium-chain fatty acids.
They are important because they can be absorbed from the digestive system without requiring any chemical changes (as do the more complex fatty acids). Some studies have shown that MCTs can help in the process of excess calorie burning, and thus weight loss. They may also promote fat oxidation and reduce food intake.
Coconut oil is good source of MCTs and is made up of about 66% of these.
